Also looking forward to the new Superman movie next year. I just hope Lex Luthor isn't the bad guy this time, and that Supes gets to cut loose.

The last superman film was boring, not something you'd level at a superhero film normally. After the plane save, you can more or less turn it off...

Good news is that there is a new trailer for this attached to The Hobbit. Those who have seen it says it is "the best superhero movie trailer ever". Look forward to judging for myself.

sadly it a remake of films 1 and 2, another superhero origin story.

i don't know if it's a remake. It's more of a retelling of the origin story using elements from the more recent version of the comics. I could do without another origin story but it looks good from the most recent trailer.

Looked like it could have been a trilogy messed up into a single movie!

First Movie: Last Son of Krypton
Details events leading up to the situation where Jor-El sends his son to Earth.
We learn that the colonies of Krypton sought independence and Krypton's High Council had Doomsday created and unleashed to teach the colonies a lesson unfortunately they soon found they had lost control of their creation and to protect themselves they isolated Krypton and confounded the problem by continuing their genetic program to "fine tune" Krypton to their flawed reasoning.
One of the scout ships sent on that colonisation effort crashlanded on Earth the sole survivor a member of the House of El was outcasted at the time because she was pregnant and raised her hybrid child on Krypton this child is an ancestor of Jor-El and the reason why unlike other Kryptonians he was able to realise Krypton's fate and actually do something about it.
The High Council still refused to act believing it was better for everyone to die than break their inbuilt breeding protocols, Zod on the other hand sought to seize control using Jor-El as an excuse to further his own ends.
Jor-El insured that effort failed but with the High Council still unwilling to listen he prepared to send his son to Earth.
We learn Jor-El has a twin brother who unlike Jor-El agreed with Zod's ideas but even as he helped Zod escape confinement with a limited number of his followers the destruction of Krypton began forcing them to flee aboard one of the few remaining ships watching Krypton's demise as Kal-El's life pod escaped the destruction and headed for Earth.

Second Movie: Dawn of Heroes
Lex Luthor effectively rules Metropolis the one thorn in his side is the mysterious Superman who thwarts his every move to seal that control even as he helps the populace believe in something better which being not Lex isn't something the billionaire genius cares for.
A meteor shower similar to the one that Clark arrived in reveals he isn't the last Kryptonian as another life pod reveals his cousin Kara who was sent to Earth to warn Clark about Zod.
We see a brief explanation to cover the first movie and the revelation that when Krypton was destroyed Zod assumed control of whatever survived and began searching for a new home.
They discovered the fate of the colonies but managed to establish a new home on a planetoid they named "New Argo City" however in his search Zod encountered Doomsday the ancient Kryptonian creation that wiped out the colonies in his haste to flee he almost led the beast to New Argo but they employed a half finished hyperdrive to move the city to another system, aware that Zod would inevitably head for Earth given their own probes had revealed Clark's presence they agreed to send Kara over her father's objections to earth to warn Kal-El (Clark).
Lex's latest scheme to seize the STAR Labs facility in metropolis fails but its just a diversion as he uses the attack to hide the fact he eavesdropped whilst Superman explains to the STAR Labs personnel his background history and introduced Super Girl and the warning she brought them.
Aware of Zod Lex uses the information to get the US Government and the Military on his side in preparation for his next gambit...

Third Movie: A League of Heroes
Zod arrives due to Lex's machinations the Earth isn't prepared but Clark discovers too late that Kara was sent to double cross him at a key moment so Zod can capture him.
Lex's interference however means the other heroes of Earth are mobilised this is when we learn about Batman (who being Batman) is prepared and helps rescue Clark even as Zod prepares his machinations from the movie this time we get multiple groups of heroes fighting his goons even as we learn that Doomsday is in pursuit but Kara's father sent her ahead since they needed to neutralise the one being who could have prevented their plan to terraform Earth so they would have a chance to stop the creature who is fatally vulnerable to Krypton's natural environment and the reason they needed an inhabitable planet to even attempt this effort.
With Batman's help Superman takes out one of the world terraforming devices but the battle intensifies especially in metropolis as Lex's forces find themselves hopelessly outmatched since Clark was deliberately holding back when he fought Lex before something the genius didn't count for.
There are losses but they eventually manage to cripple Zod's command ship and that disables the other half of thr terraforming machine.
Zod elects to jump his crippled ship into hyperspace ignoring the perils that pose but not before revealing that Doomsday is en route before he and his remaining forces escape.
Kara redeems herself after witnessing her father's death at Zod's hands but badly shattered by the events Clark leaves her with his parents in hopes they can help her recover.
Learning of Doomsday's arrival Batman does what he does best, prepares and thus we get the JL Satellite Station as well as the Batman International building new JL stations across the world preparing for the inevitable conflict to come.
We learn Lex was briefly jailed after his complicity was revealed along with how he learned about Zod's arrival in the first place but as Batman organises the first Justice League, Lex starts builds the first Legion of Doom.
Closing scene reveals that Doomsday is actually an organism created by an artificial intelligence network calling itself Brainiac actually designed by a member of the House of El it went rogue after the High Council tried to insure they had some control over it and being the idiots they were they effectively released it from almost all control... only the House of El has any influence over it now and thanks to Zod it now knows where the surviving members of that family are located...
