Introductions are in order
Hi
Just a few words of introduction. I'm Steve Race and I am a Squadron UK fan. I've set this forum up as a fan of the game for others of like mind to get together and discuss the greatest (IMHO) super hero rpg ever written. I've played Squadron UK and Golden Heroes before it, since the game first came out. These days my gaming time is more limited but I still love the game and enjoy talking about it.

Re: Introductions are in order
Hello! I'm Paul and have been running a Squadron UK/Golden Heroes/Homebrew rules lash up for 3 years now in the play by post format (online). Have some great players who've stuck with the game through thick and thin, and we've discovered a few limitations of the game so are exploring other options as far as systems go.
For something that's knocking on for 28 years old it still holds up pretty good though
Back in the day we never gave GH much time. Marvel had just come out, and around a year after that, DC came out so Golden Heroes, Villains and Vigilantes, Champions, Superworld and Superhero 2044 (ugh!) never got much play. Our loss - the combat system has proven to be excellent in online play.
Anyway, hope to see a few more faces around here!
Cheers, Paul

Hi Paul
Good to have you here. I've never tried SQUK for online play but might have to give it a go

Re: Introductions are in order
Well if you have time it can be rewarding (but slow) compared to tabletop. I can probably squeeze in another player or two if ever you want to take the plunge.
Game is currently set in World War II and the characters have travelled back in time to stop the Nazis from winning the war (and then it gets complicated). Link:
I can't link to the game for 7 days according to:

Re: Introductions are in order
Hi,
I have been rolling dice for 25+ years. for the few years i have been building a massive campaing based on the old scenarios published in WD as well as the two offical ones. and a couple of rare ones. i have notes on a time span covering 8,000+ (ish) years. from the Storegga slide to some point in the future.
i have a timeline for the scenarios which lets them flow creating a natural Campaign.
i fell in to GH, back in the day i always wanted the system having played once. i missed out on the system as there was far too many systems to buy and never enough money to do it. later playing/Running DC Heroes and GURPS Supers. i finallay managed to get a complete set of GH matrial inculding both Boxes of figures (still in box) capping it of with a copy of The Lancelot Caper, i also have a complete set of SQUK.
i have played in some of Steve Races Heroe games, all of which were excellent.
I recently ran The Lancelot Caper twice at an oversubcribed Dragonmeet.

Was the lancelot caper a published adventure or a White Dwarf job? If so, which issue?
I guess all of us who know the game have been around for 35+ years. It's hard to imagine youngsters these days playing RPGs when the computers are rather better than they were back in the day (with coloured blocks hitting other blocks...)

It's good stuff, although I haven't had a chance to actually play it yet as Kevin was busy running it for a playtest group and at Dragonmeet. Maybe this year.

Was it some bundle of papers that got passed around and photocopied, or do you have to be part of some club to get hold of it? I can do funny handshakes and wear a moose hat, all that mason stuff, with the best of 'em

The one about the female Captain America with the arcane and technological gadgets up against the bad guy who revealed her origin was a farce?apn wrote:Was the lancelot caper a published adventure or a White Dwarf job? If so, which issue?

Hello from Liverpool
Hi there, I'm Harry from Liverpool
Been playing GH since it first came out and must admit, it has always been my favourite RPG ever. I love comics and superhero movies, and its as close as I can get to actually being a Superhero, ( a long haired bearded fat 50 year old, wouldn't cut it in the real world lol)
I was part of Joels THE EXECUTIVE play be email game, and then ran my own game called THE LOREKNIGHTS.
But real life, divorce, kids, work, moving house, etc but a stop to it, but still miss the old gang.
Recently I ran a small table top version of GH, for some friends and they loved it, (had to use LEGO men for figures, but it worked well)
Looking forward to chatting to you all

I'm Garrie, have been role playing for twenty+ years. Call of Cthulhu has been my main game of choice since picking up the 2nd Edition from GW many aeons ago, from where I also purchased The original Golden Heroes box set when it came out (and the subsequent scenarios). Been a while since I actually played GH but just ordered Squadron UK having stumbled across it on Amazon so will be revisiting soon......

Re: Introductions are in order
Hello.
I've been a RPG fan for a VERY long time (started with OD&D back when that was all there was!) I can remember playing GOLDEN HEROES back in its very earliest incarnation. It was (and still is) the one SHRPG that captures the feeling of a superhero comic-book in my humble opinion, so I was DELIGHTED, after many years of thinking it lost and gone forever, to find it very much alive and leaping tall buildings in a single bound as SQUADRON UK!
Very much looking forward to reading everything here. Thanks for keeping this amazing game going!

Re: Introductions are in order
Hello everyone. I just bought second edition SQUK. The last time I ran SQUK was seven years ago, and had a blast running it. Before that I played Golden Heroes in the 80's and enjoyed that immensely too. I've been a member of a couple of GH Yahoo groups under various pseudonyms in the past too. I'm hoping to read the new SQUK and get another campaign going at some time in the near future.
